Following are some links to the PromPeru website, which has a lot of information for tourists visiting Peru. I plan on taking a trip soon to see Choquiquerao, which is an ancient Inca city near Cusco, similar to Machu Picchu. After that, I hope to be offering trips there as well. Huaraz is another famous place, situated in the Cordillera Blanca, the White Mountain Range. That is a possibility for future trips as well. There also are various links for more information, photos, gear sites, etc.

Cotahuasi Canyon, and surrounding area, with an emphasis on mountain climbing. Trip reports and photos.

If you want to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, it is only possible through specially licensed agencies and there are strict quotas and advance booking requirements. A good site for information is the Andean Travel Web.

The agency that I used when I hiked the Inca Trail was Peru Treks; they were very good and are reasonably priced. I recommend them highly. They are listed in the above website or directly through the second link below:

If you are interested in less adventurous trekking, using pack animals, I have a Peruvian friend who also guides here in Cotahuasi, his name is Marcio Ruiz. He can help you with a tour using pack animals, or possibly even horses to ride. His website is linked below. You can see a lot of Cotahuasi scenery there as well. Please tell him I sent you.
